Eight8ate Partners with SOS Philippines to Combat Food Waste and Hunger

Aligning with global sustainability efforts and the spirit of Earth Day, Eight8ate Holdings, Inc. formalized its partnership with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines. A Memorandum of Agreement has been signed on April 21, cementing Eight8ate’s commitment to combat food waste while extending aid to marginalized communities. This strategic initiative is designed to channel vital food resources to civil society organizations and vulnerable sectors, highlighting Eight8ate’s advocacy on environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Eight8ate President and CEO Joey R. Garcia, together with SOS Philippines Country Manager Rachel Q. Luna graced the MOA signing ceremony. Building on its existing efforts on serving food to residential care facilities, Eight8ate’s collaboration with SOS Philippines, which initially started in July 2024, is expected to impact a greater number of communities facing food insecurity. The partnership also addresses food refuse, a significant environmental challenge among food producers, creating efficiency measures to minimize waste at every stages of food lifecycle, from procurement to production.

SOS Philippines is a global food rescue foundation focused on “Saving the Land, Serving the People, Feeding the Mind,” aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The organization addresses the food security crisis in the Philippines by rescuing surplus food to provide nutritious meals to vulnerable communities.

Aside from food rescue, Eight8ate also manages its food surplus through partnership with Pawssion Project, a rescue facility for dogs and cats. The Company also manages its food waste by turning them into a high-efficiency compost supporting farmers organization, a testament to its commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen and to contribute positively towards sustainable development.
